Who is our Director?
The River Cities Concert Band is directed by Shaun Popp. Shaun has studied at the University of Louisville and has his Master of Music Performance in Wind Conducting. He has studied both Wind and Orchestral Conducting. Shaun is currently Director of Bands at Jeffersontown High School here in the Jefferson County Public School system. He has held many other positions and is an accomplished vocalist and musican.
What do we sound like?
Now that's a GOOD question. We are a concert band, consisting of woodwinds, percussion, brass, and reed instruments. We play a wide variety of music. When you attend our concert, or listen to our CD, Music for All Ages, you will hear a wide variety of styles. From marches, to jazz, to Broadway, and beyond, we will take you on the musical ride of your life.
What do we look like?

Where do we rehearse?
During the school year rehearsals are held every Tuesday night from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at River Valley Middle School in Jeffersonville, Indiana. When school is out we are at the St. Matthews Baptist Church. Please check the schedule for current rehearsal site. The band enjoys a special camaraderie and closeness which results in rehearsals being most congenial and enjoyable. If you feel you would like to be a part of this organization, please attend one of our rehearsals.
When and Where do we play?
In the River Cities area, of course. We play in the Kentuckiana area, as well as surrounding cities. You can hear us from Corydon, IN to Louisville, KY. New Albany, Jeffersonville, Clarksville... well, you get the idea. Why not check out our Event Calendar for more info?
